The images generated in the Postmachineism series were trained on a dataset of several thousand images of minimalism, color fields and sculpture by Donald Judd, Sol Lewitt, Dan Flavin, Dan Graham, Carl Andre, Ellsworth Kelly, Eva Hesse, Frank Stella, Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, and more.
Volume Two’s images were created by taking the thousands of result images from volume one and training those against the original dataset to generate new images.
The images created by retraining the new works against the old works also yielded some interesting results. The second set of images contained a lot of blobs and shapes that appear to be coming apart or melting away. It also contained a lot of images made up of groups of small circles or squares and a few that are a continuation of results from the pervious round of training that favor color fields and sculptural elements.
